Elanna Allen biography

Elanna Allen is an author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She has created several picture books, both as an author-illustrator and as an illustrator for other writers. Allen studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she focused on illustration and animation.

Her debut as an author-illustrator was with the picture book Itsy Mitsy Runs Away, published by Simon & Schuster in 2011. The story follows a young girl named Itsy Mitsy who decides to run away from bedtime, packing up her belongings and her father in the process. Allen’s illustrations are recognized for their expressive characters and playful style.

In addition to her books, Allen has worked in animation and character design for children’s television. She contributed to the development of animated series for Nickelodeon and Playhouse Disney, including work on shows such as Pocoyo and Olivia.

Allen’s other picture books include Poor Little Guy (2016) and Pet Dad (2018), both published by Dial Books for Young Readers. Poor Little Guy features a tiny fish who outsmarts a much larger predator, while Pet Dad tells the story of a girl who treats her father as if he were her pet.
