Donna L. Washington is an American storyteller, author, and recording artist known for her contributions to children’s literature and oral storytelling. She has written several books for young readers, including A Big Bed for Little Snow, Li’l Rabbit’s Kwanzaa, and Boo Stew. Washington is recognized for her dynamic performances and workshops, which focus on folktales, multicultural stories, and literacy development.
Washington’s work often draws from a wide range of cultural traditions, including African, African American, and international folklore. She has performed at schools, libraries, festivals, and conferences across the United States, sharing stories that emphasize themes of community, empathy, and resilience.
In addition to her books, Washington has produced several storytelling recordings and has been featured at national storytelling events. Her book Boo Stew, illustrated by Jeffrey Ebbeler, was published by Peachtree Publishing in 2021.
