Dhonielle Clayton biography

Dhonielle Clayton is an author for young readers and the chief operating officer of We Need Diverse Books. She is a former teacher and a former middle school librarian. She co-founded CAKE Literary, a creative development company that creates diverse books for a wide range of readers.

Clayton co-authored the Tiny Pretty Things series. Her young adult fantasy books include The Belles and its sequel The Everlasting Rose. The Belles is a teen and young adult fantasy novel published by Disney Hyperion, with a paperback edition published on 14 February 2023.

Clayton made her middle-grade debut with The Marvellers, a fantasy adventure set in a global magic school in the sky. The book is volume 1 of The Conjureverse series, written by Clayton and illustrated by Khadijah Khatib. It is a children’s literature title for ages 8–12, with a paperback edition published on 29 August 2023.

Clayton continued The Belles world with The Beauty Trials, in which Edel Beauregard enters a deadly competition to become the next Queen of Orléans. The Beauty Trials is a teen and young adult fantasy novel published by Disney Hyperion, with a paperback edition published on 6 February 2024.
