Brunkus is widely recognized for illustrating the Junie B. Jones series, written by Barbara Park. The series, which began in 1992, features the adventures of a young girl named Junie B. Jones and is published by Random House.

In addition to the Junie B. Jones books, Brunkus has illustrated titles such as Read All About It! by Laura Bush and Jenna Bush Hager, and Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin.
