David LaRochelle is an American author and illustrator recognized for his contributions to children’s literature over more than three decades. His body of work encompasses over thirty books, including picture books, puzzle books, and a young adult novel.
LaRochelle began his professional journey as a fourth-grade teacher in Minnesota. During his teaching tenure, he continued to write and illustrate, leading to the publication of his first book, A Christmas Guest, in 1988. Since then, he has authored and illustrated numerous titles, such as The Best Pet of All, How Martha Saved Her Parents from Green Beans, Moo!, and Absolutely, Positively Not.
His work has garnered several accolades, including the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, the Sid Fleischman Humor Award, and multiple Minnesota Book Awards. LaRochelle is also known for his engaging school visits, where he shares insights into the writing and illustrating process with students.
