David A. Robertson biography

David A. Robertson is a Canadian author and member of the Norway House Cree Nation. He is known for his work in children’s and young adult literature, as well as graphic novels that explore Indigenous themes and histories. Robertson has written numerous books, including picture books, middle grade novels, and graphic novels, often focusing on Indigenous experiences and perspectives.

His works include the graphic novel series 7 Generations, which traces the history of an Indigenous family across several generations, and the Misia series, which introduces young readers to Cree culture and language. Robertson has also authored the Reckoner trilogy, a young adult series that blends mystery and supernatural elements in a contemporary Indigenous setting.

In addition to his fiction, Robertson has contributed to educational resources and anthologies that promote Indigenous voices and reconciliation. His picture book When We Were Alone, illustrated by Julie Flett, received the 2017 Governor General’s Literary Award for Young People’s Literature – Illustrated Books.
