David A. Adler biography

David A. Adler is an American author known for his extensive work in children’s literature. He began his writing career while working as a mathematics teacher in New York. Adler is the creator of the popular Cam Jansen mystery series, which debuted in 1980 with Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Stolen Diamonds published by Viking Press. The series features a young girl with a photographic memory who solves mysteries with her friend Eric.

In addition to the Cam Jansen books, Adler has written numerous biographies for young readers, including A Picture Book of Anne Frank and A Picture Book of Martin Luther King, Jr. He has also authored math and science books for children, such as Fraction Fun and How Tall, How Short, How Far Away. Adler’s works often focus on making complex subjects accessible and engaging for elementary and middle-grade students.

Adler’s books have received recognition from educational and literary organizations. In 1987, his book Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Gold Coins was named a Notable Children’s Trade Book in the Field of Social Studies by the National Council for the Social Studies and the Children’s Book Council.
