Dave Valeza is an American illustrator and cartoonist known for his work in graphic novels and comics. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Valeza has contributed to various anthologies and has worked on projects for publishers such as Scholastic and First Second Books.
His debut graphic novel, Relay, was published by First Second Books in 2024. The story follows a group of middle school students navigating the challenges of a relay race and explores themes of teamwork and self-discovery. Valeza’s illustrations are recognized for their expressive characters and dynamic storytelling.
In addition to his work as an author and illustrator, Valeza has participated in educational outreach, sharing his expertise in comics and visual storytelling with students and aspiring artists. His graphic novel Relay was published in 2024.
