Dan Murphy biography

Dan Murphy is an American writer and producer who has co-written three children’s books with Aubrey Plaza. Their first collaboration, The Legend of the Christmas Witch, was illustrated by Julia Iredale and published by Viking Books for Young Readers in 2021.

Murphy and Plaza continued the story in The Return of the Christmas Witch, published in 2022. The two books follow Kristtörn, the twin sister of Santa Claus, through a story shaped by Christmas folklore and fairy-tale traditions.

Their third picture book, Luna and the Witch Throw a Halloween Party, was illustrated by Hannah Peck. Published by Viking Books for Young Readers in 2025, it follows Luna Lopez, a girl who wants to become a witch, and Pheenie, a witch preparing a Halloween party.

Murphy also served as an executive producer on the animated television series Kevin, which premiered on Prime Video in 2026.
