Dan Abdo biography

Dan Abdo is an American author, illustrator, and animator known for his collaborative work with Jason Patterson. Together, Abdo and Patterson have created graphic novels and worked on various animation projects. Their partnership began in the animation industry, where they contributed to commercial and television projects before transitioning to children’s literature.

Abdo and Patterson are the co-creators of the Blue, Barry & Pancakes graphic novel series, published by First Second Books. The series, which debuted in 2021, follows the adventures of three friends—a worm, a frog, and a big blue bunny—blending humor and visual storytelling for young readers. The books are recognized for their energetic illustrations and accessible narratives.

In addition to their work in publishing, Abdo and Patterson have developed animated content for networks such as Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Their experience in animation informs the dynamic style and pacing of their graphic novels.

Dan Abdo’s recent publications include Blue, Barry & Pancakes: Danger on Mount Choco, released by First Second Books in 2022.
