Daka Hermon biography

Daka Hermon was born in Tennessee and studied English literature and creative writing at Agnes Scott College. Her childhood reading and writing included fairy-tale and fantasy stories, and her later work for children includes fiction and early readers.

Hermon’s middle-grade horror novel Hide and Seeker was published by Scholastic Press on 15 September 2020. The book follows children drawn into a dangerous game of hide-and-seek in a shadowy world ruled by a shape-shifting Seeker, and its publisher information identifies it for grades 4–6.

Her novel Nightmare King was published by Scholastic on 5 September 2023. It is a middle-grade horror story about twelve-year-old Shane, whose sleep pulls him into a dark world ruled by the Nightmare King after a serious accident.

Hermon has also written licensed children’s readers, including Marvel’s Storm: Disaster Alert! and Marvel’s Spider-Man Bugs Out! for the National Geographic Kids Readers series. She is a staff writer on Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends on Disney Junior.
