Christopher Myers is an American author and illustrator known for his work in children’s and young adult literature. He is the son of acclaimed author Walter Dean Myers. Christopher Myers has illustrated and written numerous books, often focusing on themes of identity, community, and social justice. His illustrations are recognized for their vibrant style and thoughtful integration with text.
Myers has collaborated with his father on several projects, including Harlem, which was awarded a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor in 1998. He has also illustrated books such as Black Cat and Jazz, both written by his father. In addition to his collaborations, Myers has authored and illustrated his own works, including Wings and H.O.R.S.E.: A Game of Basketball and Imagination. The latter received a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor in 2014.
Christopher Myers’s work has been recognized by several organizations, and he has contributed to anthologies and literary projects that address contemporary issues. In 2015, he was named the inaugural Artistic Director of the nonprofit publisher Make Me a World, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books.
His book H.O.R.S.E.: A Game of Basketball and Imagination was published by Egmont USA in 2012 and received a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor in 2014.
