Cece Bell is an American author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She has created both picture books and graphic novels, often drawing on her own experiences. Bell is the creator of the graphic novel El Deafo, which is based on her childhood experiences with hearing loss and her use of a hearing aid. The book has been recognized for its portrayal of disability and its accessible storytelling.
Bell has also written and illustrated several picture books, including the Rabbit & Robot series and Bee-Wigged. Her illustrations are characterized by their expressive, approachable style, and she often uses humor in her writing. Bell’s work has been published by major publishers such as Amulet Books and Candlewick Press.
In 2015, El Deafo received a Newbery Honor, marking a significant milestone in Bell’s career.
