Cathrin Peterslund biography

Cathrin Peterslund is a Danish illustrator and cartoonist whose work appears in children’s and middle-grade publishing. She studied comics and illustration at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, completing a BA in Graphic Storytelling in 2017. After graduating, she began working as a freelance artist on books, editorial commissions, and narrative illustration.

Peterslund’s recent projects include illustrating Jane Yolen’s poetry collection In and Out the Window (Philomel Books, 2024). She created interior art for Hal Johnson’s middle-grade handbooks Apprentice Academy: Sorcerers (Odd Dot, 2023) and Apprentice Academy: Knights (Odd Dot, 2024). Her picture-book work includes Laura Alary’s Here: The Dot We Call Home (Paraclete Press, 2022). Earlier commissions span YA and gift titles for publishers in the U.S., U.K., and Europe.

Trained in graphic storytelling, Peterslund builds images that support pacing and tone across spreads and spot illustrations. Her drawings often balance atmosphere with clear visual cues for young readers, combining character-led scenes with decorative detail.

Alongside book illustration, Peterslund has produced comics and gallery pieces and has been longlisted and featured in professional showcases. She continues to collaborate with trade publishers and imprints on projects for children and teens.
