Brian K. Vaughan is an American comic book and television writer known for his work in the graphic novel and entertainment industries. He has written for several major comic publishers, including DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and Image Comics. Vaughan is the co-creator and writer of the acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man, which was published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint from 2002 to 2008. He is also the co-creator and writer of Ex Machina (2004–2010), Pride of Baghdad (2006), and Paper Girls (2015–2019), the latter published by Image Comics.
In addition to his work in comics, Vaughan has contributed to television. He served as a writer, story editor, and producer for the television series Lost from 2007 to 2009. Vaughan has also worked as a showrunner and executive producer for the television adaptation of Under the Dome, based on the novel by Stephen King.
Vaughan’s writing is recognized for its character-driven narratives and exploration of complex themes. He has collaborated with several prominent artists, including Pia Guerra, Tony Harris, and Fiona Staples. His partnership with Fiona Staples on the ongoing comic series Saga began in 2012, published by Image Comics.
Brian K. Vaughan’s work has received multiple Eisner Awards, including the 2013 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series for Saga.
