Brendan Kiely biography

Brendan Kiely is an American author known for his work in young adult fiction. He is the co-author, with Jason Reynolds, of the novel All American Boys, which was published by Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy Books in 2015. The book addresses themes of racism and police violence and has been recognized with several awards, including the 2016 Coretta Scott King Author Honor and the Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature.

Kiely has also written solo novels, including The Gospel of Winter (2014), The Last True Love Story (2016), and Tradition (2018), all published by Margaret K. McElderry Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. His works often explore issues relevant to contemporary teens, such as identity, social justice, and personal growth.

Brendan Kiely’s writing has been featured in various publications, and he has participated in school visits and literary events across the United States. He holds an MFA from the City College of New York. In 2016, All American Boys received the Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature.
