Bethan Woollvin biography

Bethan Woollvin is a British author and illustrator known for her distinctive retellings of classic fairy tales. She studied illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, where her debut picture book, Little Red, originated as her final degree project. Little Red was published by Two Hoots in 2016 and received critical attention for its bold, graphic style and fresh approach to storytelling.

Woollvin has continued to reinterpret traditional tales, creating picture books such as Rapunzel (2017), Hansel & Gretel (2018), and Bo the Brave (2020), all published by Two Hoots. Her work is recognized for its limited color palettes, strong visual narratives, and empowering themes. In addition to her fairy tale retellings, Woollvin has written and illustrated original stories, including I Can Catch a Monster (2020).

Her books have been featured in various reading lists and have received accolades, including the Macmillan Prize for Illustration for Little Red. Woollvin’s illustrations are characterized by their simplicity, expressive characters, and use of humor. She continues to create picture books that engage young readers with inventive storytelling and striking artwork.

In 2022, Bethan Woollvin published Three Little Vikings with Two Hoots.
