April Chu is an illustrator known for her work in children’s picture books. She studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley. After working as an architect, Chu transitioned to illustration, focusing on children’s literature.
Chu has illustrated several picture books, collaborating with various authors. Her illustration credits include In a Village by the Sea by Muon Van, published by Creston Books in 2015, and Ada Byron Lovelace and the Thinking Machine by Laurie Wallmark, published by Creston Books in 2015. She also illustrated Summoning the Phoenix: Poems and Prose about Chinese Musical Instruments by Emily Jiang, published by Shen’s Books in 2014.
Her work on In a Village by the Sea was recognized as a 2016 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature Honor Book for Picture Book. Chu continues to illustrate picture books, contributing to the field of children’s literature through her detailed and expressive artwork.
