Anna Branford is an author and doll maker known for her contributions to children’s literature. She was born in the Isle of Man and has lived in several countries, including England, Sudan, and Australia. Branford is the creator of the Violet Mackerel series, which follows the adventures of a young girl named Violet. The series is illustrated by Elanna Allen and published by Walker Books. The first book, Violet Mackerel’s Brilliant Plot, was published in 2010.
In addition to the Violet Mackerel books, Branford has written other works for children, such as Lily the Elf, illustrated by Lisa Coutts. She is also a lecturer in sociology at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. Branford’s writing often explores themes of family, friendship, and creativity.
Her book Violet Mackerel’s Brilliant Plot was shortlisted for the 2011 Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year for Younger Readers.
