Angela McAllister biography

Angela McAllister is a British author known for her extensive work in children’s literature. She has written over eighty books for children and young readers, including picture books, chapter books, and novels. Her stories often explore themes of family, friendship, and imagination, and she has collaborated with a variety of illustrators throughout her career.

McAllister’s books include Leon and the Place Between, illustrated by Grahame Baker-Smith, and Yuck! That’s Not a Monster!, illustrated by Alison Edgson. She is also the author of A Year Full of Stories and A World Full of Animal Stories, both illustrated by Christopher Corr, which present folktales and stories from around the world. Her work has been published by several major publishers, including Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and Andersen Press.

In addition to her original stories, McAllister has adapted and retold classic tales and folktales for young audiences. Her book Winter’s Sleep: A Hibernation Story, illustrated by Hannah Bess Ross, introduces children to the concept of hibernation through a gentle narrative.

Angela McAllister’s book Leon and the Place Between was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2010.
