Andrés J. Colmenares is a Colombian cartoonist and illustrator best known as the creator of Wawawiwa Comics, a widely followed webcomic featuring gentle humor and character-driven vignettes for all ages. His print work is published primarily by Andrews McMeel Publishing, which issues his comic collections and calendars for the general and school library market.

Colmenares’s books include the hardcover collection When Sharks Attack With Kindness (Andrews McMeel, 2021), which gathers his popular shark cartoons, and A Great Big Visual Hug: Heartwarming Wawawiwa Comics (Andrews McMeel, 2024), a longer compilation of new and selected strips. His artwork also appears in branded calendars and related formats that extend the Wawawiwa characters to classroom and family settings.
