Aminder Dhaliwal is a Canadian cartoonist, animator, and director known for her work in comics and animation. She graduated from Sheridan College with a degree in animation. Dhaliwal has worked as a director and storyboard artist for various animated television series, including Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time.
Dhaliwal gained recognition for her webcomic Woman World, which she began posting on Instagram in 2017. The comic imagines a future society populated entirely by women and explores themes of community, identity, and humor. Woman World was published as a graphic novel by Drawn & Quarterly in 2018.
Her second graphic novel, Cyclopedia Exotica, was published by Drawn & Quarterly in 2021. The book presents a satirical and empathetic look at a world where cyclops people coexist with humans, addressing issues of difference and acceptance.
In 2022, Cyclopedia Exotica was longlisted for the PEN Open Book Award.
