Abi Cushman is an American author and illustrator of children’s books. She is known for her work in picture books, combining both writing and illustration. Cushman’s debut picture book, Soaked!, was published by Viking Books for Young Readers in 2020. The story features a group of animals navigating a rainy day, and showcases Cushman’s distinctive illustration style.
In addition to Soaked!, Cushman wrote and illustrated Animals Go Vroom!, which was published by Viking Books for Young Readers in 2021. This book uses visual humor and interactive elements to engage young readers, focusing on animal sounds and vehicles.
Cushman has a background in web design and has contributed illustrations to various projects beyond her books. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Her work has been featured in children’s literature events and she participates in school and library visits to discuss her creative process.
